“Over the course of his career, Glen has brought a spirit of innovation to his public policy work. Through his various roles in the Justice Ministry’s Dispute Resolution Office, and now as ADM of the Innovation Branch, Glen has been tirelessly optimistic about the capacity to improve peoples’ experiences with the justice system. He has encouraged lawyers, judges, other justice professionals and government administrators to tackle this vital question: how do we facilitate earlier, accessible, client-focused solutions to “legal problems”? Many improvements in Saskatchewan’s justice system in the last two decades have Glen’s fingerprints on them!”
Nominated by Professor Michaela Keet (quoted above), College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, we are delighted to announce that Glen Gardner is joining NSRLP’s Access to Justice All-Stars Line-Up. Glen has spent many years promoting and experimenting with creative and bold dispute resolution initiatives in the Saskatchewan courts, and now heads a team dedicated to Innovations in the Ministry of Justice. Saskatchewan has a history of innovation especially in court-connected dispute resolution – Saskatchewan’s Queen’s Bench mediation program was the first in Canada – and Glen is very much part of that tradition.
Everyone who has worked with Glen knows that he is genuinely unafraid of new challenges and always willing to explore new ideas. His creativity, commitment and optimism are critical to moving forward access to justice and responding to community needs.
Glen also finds time to share his experience as an instructor in negotiation and mediation at the College of Law and on the Bar Admission Program in Saskatchewan, as well as appearing regularly at continuing legal education events and professional conferences. Welcome Glen, it’s great to have you on our team!
